Philip Gardner, LCSW-R is a psychotherapist who has been practicing in New York City since 2008. He earned his Master’s Degree in Social Work from Fordham University and received his certificate in psychoanalysis from the National Institute for the Psychotherapies (NIP). Philip is a former Director of the NIP Professional Association’s Case Presentation Series and a current member of the NIP Board of Directors. Prior to becoming a psychotherapist, Philip had a diverse professional dance career spanning over twenty years. During this time, he used Pilates as a cross-training technique and a method to complement his physical therapy rehabilitation. Philip has performed in Broadway productions including “Moving Out,” with many choreographers such as Twyla Tharp and Lar Lubovitch and in the companies of the Joffrey Ballet, Stephen Petronio and Lucinda Childs. Philip’s unique experiences have led him to his research on the interconnectedness of movement and psychoanalysis, which he has presented internationally.
